News

Tuesday troubles is a feature that takes some article from the front page of the news, and gives my personal spin on it.  Philosophy isn’t dead, and through this ongoing exercise we’ll have a chance to practice sharing our views on life and the pursuit of intelligence.

The news, as I see it for today:

We’re all abuzz with the destruction of the US economy, there are a few banks who have spent the summer struggling badly because their CEO’s really had no idea how to run a business, and once the coffers ran dry, so did they.  To their good fortune… the U.S. Government is going to give them billions of dollars to get another chance to do the same thing again.  The beauty of a free market is how government supported it can be.

Sarah Palin, this beloved overqualified Vice Presidential candidate has trouble from the news media, recently it’s been said that her town fought the hardest against the state legislature when it was proposed that women who were raped shouldn’t be charged for the rape kits.  I guess it’s good to take a stand, but I personally believe… this is a bad stand to take.  In her defense it’s a difficult job being a mayor of a town of 7,000; and she may have been totally unaware of this practice…

The mystery of stone henge was recently solved by British archeologists; with the help of some geologists it’s been discovered that the stones were setup as a healing circle.  With breakthroughs in research it can be said that the skeletons buried near the site were all seriously diseased or injured, and the stones they found were the kind known to have been used in healing rituals.  It makes sense, and it doesn’t involve aliens, some of my basic rules in looking for truth.

I try not to pay attention to the news. It’s too depressing.

The censure of a NZ MP who also is the Foreign Minister for not declaring donations has been dominating the news here. Apart from that not much happens in New Zealand so we surf the rest of the world’s news to keep in touch.

Oh, I suspose a General Election in November is news. I’m so over NZ politics!

The article in the paper of 3 young boys, who stole school money. They took off running with cops behind. The cops caught 2, but 1 ran into the forest where he fell into some campers latrine hole. Poetic justice.

Umm….I too try to keep away from the news…it can be very depressing.

Yeah… the news is terrible… I think I’ll only report on it once a week.

Julie, thank you for your news, I tried really hard to not keep my news just centered around the US.

Omama, that’s hilarious to me, karma is a very funny thing, and sometimes I get the biggest smile from that kind of thing.
